Deir Ezzor, May 29 (SANA) Syrian ministries intensified emergency measures in Deir Ezzor after rising Euphrates River levels affected around 2,400 families, prompting evacuations, shelter preparations and expanded relief efforts.

The government response expanded as President Ahmad al-Sharaa arrived in the province on Friday accompanied by a ministerial delegation to assess conditions and review humanitarian needs amid the flooding.

The Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor said emergency teams continue operating around the clock, while local authorities coordinated with Civil Defense and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to evacuate residents living near riverbanks and prepare shelters in flood-prone areas.

The General Electricity Company disconnected power lines in Huwayjat Saqr as a precaution after water approached electrical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Economy and Industry announced the dispatch of 1,050 tons of flour to Deir Ezzor to help bakeries continue operating and ensure food supplies remain available during the crisis.

Finance Minister Mohamed Yisr Barnieh said the government is coordinating with relevant agencies to secure urgent needs and support ongoing response efforts.

Emergency and Disaster Management Minister Raed al-Saleh later said water levels had returned to normal and that no new flooding had been recorded.
