Argentina, Austria and Algeria advance to World Cup round of 32

Washington, June 28 (SANA) Argentina, Austria and Algeria secured places in the round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the final round of Group J matches on Saturday.

Argentina finished top of the group with a perfect nine points after defeating Jordan 3-1 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Giovani Lo Celso opened the scoring in the 19th minute, Lautaro Martínez doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 31st, and Lionel Messi added a third in the 80th after Mousa Al Tamari had pulled one back for Jordan in the 55th minute.

Austria and Algeria both advanced after playing to a 3-3 draw at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Marko Arnautović, Marcel Sabitzer and Saša Kalajdžić scored for Austria, while Rafik Belghali and Riyad Mahrez, who netted twice, were on target for Algeria.

Argentina topped Group J with nine points, followed by Austria on four points. Algeria also finished on four points to claim the third qualifying spot, while Jordan exited the tournament without a point.
