Damascus, May. 26 (SANA) Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed al-Saleh affirmed the full 24-hour readiness of the ministry to respond deal with any emergency during the Eid al-Adha holiday, in line with its responsibility to protect lives and enhance public safety.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, al-Saleh urged citizens to participate in maintaining a safe Eid atmosphere, contributing to the prevention of accidents and risks, while stressing the importance of adhering to traffic rules and reducing speed on roads.
He also warned against swimming in rivers, lakes, dams, and irrigation channels due to the serious risks they pose to lives, calling for caution during outings in forested areas and advising that fires be lit only in designated safe areas, with full extinguishing ensured afterward.
The minister further pointed out the need to avoid the use of firecrackers and fireworks due to the injuries and hazards they may cause, stressing the importance of supervising children in public celebration areas.
The ministry, in cooperation with Syrian Civil Defense Teams and relevant authorities, continues to raise its level of preparedness during holidays and official breaks in order to ensure rapid response to emergencies and reduce risks associated with traffic congestion, outdoor activities, and fireworks use.
