Syria Joins Non-Aligned Movement Summit, Reaffirms Multilateral Engagement

Syria has participated in the Mid-Term Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), held in Kampala, Uganda, emphasized its commitment to the movement’s principles and objectives, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.

In a statement shared with SANA, the ministry stated that the summit focused on addressing global challenges and strengthening multilateral cooperation in the face of international crises.

“Member states of the Movement welcomed Syria’s reintegration into the international fold, commending the country’s ongoing reform trajectory rooted in national leadership and ownership,” the statement added.

The Delegates reiterated support for UN resolutions concerning the occupied Syrian Golan and condemned repeated Israeli strikes on Syrian territory, the ministry said. The summit renewed calls for adherence to the UN Charter and principles of international law, emphasizing the importance of “preserving Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

The Syrian delegation underscored at the Summit Syria’s balanced diplomatic approach in its regional and global relations, reaffirming its commitment to the principles and objectives of the Non-Aligned Movement-particularly those promoting justice and international cooperation.

Syria’s participation in the summit marks a renewed and active presence in multilateral forums, reflecting its intent to foster constructive engagement with international platforms and organizations.
