Amman, May 4 (SANA) Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed al-Bashir, Jordan’s Saleh Kharabsheh, and Lebanon’s Joe Saddi met in Amman to discuss cooperation in the energy sector, particularly gas, and efforts to advance regional energy integration.

Speaking at a joint press conference, al-Bashir praised cooperation with Jordan, noting that the Arab Gas Pipeline has been rehabilitated, enabling gas imports that have helped improve energy supply and stabilize Syria’s electricity grid.

He said Syria is looking to expand cooperation with Jordan and Lebanon to restore regional electricity interconnection in the near future.

Jordan’s energy minister said the three countries had reached a gas exchange agreement under which Jordan will use its infrastructure to import liquefied natural gas and pump it to Syria through the Arab Gas Pipeline.

Lebanon’s energy minister said cooperation between Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon is a key pillar for rebuilding the energy sector on more sustainable and efficient foundations, both in electricity generation and in securing reliable, lower-cost energy sources.
