Aleppo, April 27 (SANA) Local authorities in Aleppo launched on Monday a major rehabilitation campaign to fill a 30-kilometre trench left from wartime in the eastern countryside, aiming to restore agricultural land and improve civilian movement across the area.
The trench extends from southeast of Bza’a to southeast of Tadef in eastern Aleppo countryside, with a width of approximately four meters. The project forms part of ongoing efforts to rehabilitate infrastructure damaged during years of war.
The campaign is being implemented jointly by Aleppo’s Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate and the 76th Division of the Ministry of Defense. Work includes levelling the terrain, removing physical barriers, and reopening routes that have remained inaccessible for years.

Officials said the initiative is designed to support the revival of agricultural activity and facilitate the safe return of farmers to their lands.
Faisal Mohammad Ali, head of civil defense operations at the Emergency Directorate, told SANA the project represents a step toward restoring normal life in the area and removing long-standing obstacles that have affected residents and farmers.
The campaign was launched in response to complaints from local communities, with specialized teams also addressing mine contamination in surrounding areas to ensure safe access for civilians.
Residents welcomed the initiative, noting that the trench and nearby minefields had previously caused casualties and blocked access to large agricultural areas.
The project is part of broader efforts in Aleppo countryside to remove remnants of war and support the gradual return of agricultural and economic activity.
