Damascus, April 26 (SANA) Fly Cham Airlines has begun operating direct flights between Damascus and Tripoli, with its inaugural service marking a renewed air link between Syria and Libya.

Osama Sattaa, the company’s adviser for development and public relations, said the new route is expected to support economic activity and strengthen ties, particularly in tourism and trade.

Libya’s chargé d’affaires in Syria, Walid Ammar, described the launch as a positive step toward restoring normal relations, noting that several bilateral agreements are currently being reactivated.

Burhan Bayraqdar, the airline’s sales manager, said the direct service will ease travel for Syrians living in Libya who wish to return home, while encouraging Libyan visitors to travel to Syria. He added that flights will initially operate once a week, every Saturday, with plans to increase frequency depending on demand.

The airline’s commercial director, Hamdi Khalaf, said the Tripoli route is part of a broader expansion strategy aimed at improving connectivity and serving the Syrian community abroad.

Industry representatives also pointed to the practical benefits of the route. Jina Attallah, who works in aviation services, said the new line expands travel options and provides more flexible solutions for passengers.

Fly Cham Airlines is a newly established carrier backed by Syrian and Emirati investors, and aims to connect Syrian cities with key regional destinations, including Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Dammam and Doha.
