Damascus, June 17 (SANA) Interior Minister Anas Khattab on Wednesday inaugurated a new headquarters for Syria’s Civil Affairs Directorate in Damascus as part of efforts to modernize public services and expand digital government systems.

The facility, located on Ibn Asaker Street, includes modern reception areas equipped with electronic systems designed to improve service delivery, reduce waiting times and streamline administrative procedures, according to the Interior Ministry.

The ministry said the new center is intended to enhance civil registry services and facilitate access to official documentation through a more efficient and technology-driven system.

Speaking to reporters during the inauguration, Khattab said the directorate operates as a central civil registry authority serving all of Syria and functions through a fully automated system without paper-based transactions.

He said all services are processed electronically, with verification and auditing procedures carried out through integrated databases, allowing for faster and more accurate processing of records.

Khattab added that the ministry plans to expand the model to civil registry centers across the country in the coming period as part of broader efforts to improve service quality and reduce administrative burdens on citizens.

The project forms part of Syria’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives aimed at modernizing public administration and improving access to government services.
