Damascus, Apr.12 (SANA) Damascus Governor Maher Marwan Idlebi extended on Sunday Easter greetings from President Ahmad al-Sharaa to Greek Orthodox Patriarch John X of Antioch wishing him continued health and success, and prosperity for the members of the community.
The greetings were delivered during a visit marking Easter, in the presence of Presidential Media Adviser Ahmad Zidan and Assistant Minister of Awqaf for Endowments Affairs Samer Bayrakdar.
Patriarch John X voiced his gratitude to President al-Sharaa for the gesture, praying for the protection of Syria and its people.
Zidan affirmed in a statement to SANA that the visit reflects the spirit of coexistence among all components of the Syrian people and demonstrates their unity and solidarity in building a new Syria.
Meanwhile, Christian communities in Syria observing the Eastern calendar celebrated Easter Sunday by holding prayers and liturgies in churches across Damascus and other provinces.
