Tartous, April 12 (SANA) The Our Lady of Dormition Church of the Greek Orthodox community in Tartous held Easter prayers and a festive Mass on Sunday, drawing large numbers of worshippers to mark the occasion according to the Eastern calendar.
Churches across the city were filled with congregants offering prayers for peace in Syria and for security and stability to prevail.
Archimandrite Alexei Nassour, vicar of the Akkar Archdiocese in Tartous, told SANA that Easter represents a key moment for spiritual renewal and for promoting values of love, tolerance and solidarity, calling for these principles to be reflected in daily life.
Nazira Dayaa, a member of the church committee, said the occasion brings people together in hope and unity, noting that prayers were offered for an end to conflicts and for peace among peoples.
Dina Arnouk, a Sunday school instructor, said the Resurrection symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and love over division, stressing the importance of unity and shared values.
Prayers were also offered for peace to prevail in Syria and globally, and for an end to conflict and suffering.
Easter is one of the most important Christian holidays, symbolizing the Resurrection of Christ and carrying a message of hope, faith and reconciliation.
