Damascus, April 1 (SANA) The Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday it will begin receiving applications for Syrian citizenship from Kurds covered by Presidential Decree No. 13 of 2026 starting April 6.

Assistant Minister of Interior for Civil Affairs, Brigadier General Ziad al-Ayesh, said the move is part of the first phase of implementing the decree.

He added that designated committees and centers have been prepared to receive applications in the governorates of Damascus, Aleppo, Hasakah, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor to ensure smooth procedures and reduce the burden on applicants.

Al-Ayesh said the first phase will focus on receiving applications and verifying submitted documents in line with applicable legal frameworks, paving the way for completing procedures required to grant citizenship.

President Ahmad al-Sharaa issued Decree No. 13 of 2026 as part of an agreement aimed at integrating Kurdish community and military institutions into state institutions.
