Deir Ezzor, April 1 (SANA) The Ministry of Energy announced the restoration of electricity to the Al-Hamidiyah and Khasarat neighborhoods in Deir Ezzor after an outage that lasted nearly nine years. The move is part of the Syrian government’s efforts to restore normal life in affected areas and improve essential services.

Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir said in a post on the social media platform X: “After nine years of darkness, electricity has returned to the Al-Hamidiyah and Khasarat neighborhoods in Deir Ezzor, bringing light back and renewing hope for a better life for our people.”

The ministry said the restoration was carried out in cooperation with the General Electricity Company and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through a project that included installing 5,500 meters of low-voltage power lines.

The project is expected to ease pressure on residents, encourage displaced families to return, and support reconstruction efforts while enhancing stability in the area.
