Damascus, March 27 (SANA) Syria’s Interior Ministry announced on Thursday that its specialized units have arrested an individual identified by the initials “H.K.” on charges of insulting the national flag of the Syrian Arab Republic during recent events in the Ain al-Arab area in Aleppo province, held as part of Newruz celebrations.
In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the ministry said the arrest came “in line with efforts to uphold the rule of law and safeguard civil peace,” and as part of ongoing security follow-up to the events that took place in the area.
The ministry stated that the individual is accused of “insulting the symbolism of the Syrian Arab Republic’s flag, in an attempt to undermine stability and incite strife.”
It added that the competent authorities have initiated the necessary legal procedures against the suspect, in preparation for referring him to the judiciary in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Interior Ministry reaffirmed that it “will not tolerate any attempt to undermine national symbols or disrupt security and stability,” stressing that it will continue to carry out its duties and take necessary measures to preserve civil peace and uphold state institutions.
