Damascus, March 20 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa issued a decree introducing targeted salary increases for employees in eight public institutions, including health, education and financial oversight bodies.
Decree No. 68 of 2026 applies a special wage scale to workers in ministries and state entities such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and the Central Bank of Syria, as part of efforts to adjust public sector pay structures.
The measure also covers employees in the Ministry of Endowments, the Central Agency for Control and Inspection , the Central Organization of Financial control and the Atomic Energy Commission.
The increases include promotion-related allowances under existing legislation and apply across all job categories listed in the attached schedule.
Additional compensation will be granted to health and education workers serving in remote and semi-remote areas, with details to be set out in implementing regulations.
The Finance Ministry, in coordination with relevant authorities, will issue executive instructions and oversee implementation.
The decree is set to take effect on May 1, 2026, following publication in the Official Gazette.
