Daraa, 13 March (SANA) Internal security forces on Friday discovered a mass grave near a site previously used as a military outpost by the deposed regime in the vicinity of al-Sanamayn city in the northern Daraa countryside.
According to SANA’s correspondent in Daraa, the grave, located in Tell Gharaba, contains the remains of 11 bodies, their hands bound and showing clear signs of torture, indicating that the victims were subjected to summary executions carried out by the ousted regime.
Specialised authorities arrived at the site and began the necessary procedures to recover the remains and work on identifying the victims.
In recent months, authorities have uncovered several mass graves across different regions of Syria containing the remains of hundreds of people who perished as a result of the practices of the deposed regime and its allies during the years of the conflict. The Syrian Network for Human Rights has documented nearly 177,000 cases of enforced disappearance since March 2011.
