Aleppo, Mar.5 (SANA) The Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced Thursday the reopening of an air corridor from the city of Aleppo towards the Mediterranean Sea, along with the reactivation of air corridors in the northern sector of Syrian airspace towards Türkiye, coinciding with the reopening of Aleppo International Airport.
“The decision was based on operational and technical assessments by the Airspace Management, and following a meeting of the Air Traffic Emergency Management to review the latest regional developments and their impact on air traffic in Syrian airspace,” the Authority said in a statement.
It indicated that the first Syrian Airlines flight departed today, Thursday, from Aleppo International Airport to Istanbul and arrived safely, reflecting the gradual resumption of air traffic through Aleppo Airport. A new flight is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, from Aleppo to Jeddah, with the possibility of adding other destinations from Aleppo, including Riyadh.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced on March 3 the reopening of Aleppo International Airport and the operation of air corridors in the northern sector of Syrian airspace towards Türkiye, starting at 00:00 on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, following a comprehensive assessment of the operational and security conditions, while it was decided to keep the rest of the air corridors and Damascus International Airport closed until further notice.
