Damascus, March 2 (SANA) Director General of the Syrian Development Fund Safwat Raslan reviewed with Italy’s Ambassador to Damascus Stefano Ravagnan prospects for joint cooperation in development fields, with a particular focus on supporting the agricultural sector.
During the meeting, Raslan presented the Fund’s project to create a national platform for registering and tracking development projects—whether governmental, local, or international—aimed at enhancing transparency and providing accurate data to support decision-makers.
For his part, Ambassador Ravagnan reiterated Italy’s interest in expanding its development presence in Syria, noting that dedicated funding is available for agricultural projects, including capacity-building and governance improvement.
Ravagnan stated that the Italian side is currently working to designate a Syrian counterpart to partner with Italian organizations seeking to implement reconstruction projects, adding that the Syrian Development Fund stands as the most suitable partner for such efforts.
President Ahmad al-Sharaa issued Legislative Decree No. (112) of 2025 in July establishing the Syrian Development Fund as an economic institution with legal personality and administrative and financial independence, tasked with contributing to reconstruction and the rehabilitation and development of infrastructure.
