Damascus, Feb. 28 (SANA) Syria’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned Iranian strikes on a number of Arab countries, describing them as violations of their sovereignty and security.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said it “strongly condemns the Iranian attacks” that targeted Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan.
“The Syrian Arab Republic expresses its full solidarity with the brotherly states that were subjected to these heinous attacks,” the statement said, adding that Damascus rejects “any threats to the security and stability of these countries” and calls for respect for their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ministry said Syria will continue to support efforts aimed at promoting dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful solutions to address regional issues and ensure security and stability for all peoples of the region.
Earlier Saturday, Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani held a series of phone calls with several Arab counterparts, as well as Turkey’s foreign minister, Britain’s national security adviser and the president of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, to discuss the latest developments in the Iranian-Israeli escalation and its impact on regional stability.
The Iranian strikes followed a joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iranian territory, triggering widespread condemnation across the Arab world
