Damascus, May 8 (SANA) Syria’s General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced Friday that all preparations are in place for the first Hajj flight of the season to depart Damascus International Airport for Jeddah on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
The authority’s media department head, Mustafa Khairallah, told SANA that a dedicated terminal has been prepared for pilgrims, equipped with ihram rooms, central air conditioning, and restroom facilities to ensure their comfort during their time at the airport. Volunteer service teams have been deployed to assist with travel procedures and manage pilgrim movement inside the airport, alongside specialist teams to help with luggage handling and travel documentation. Dedicated carts have also been provided for elderly pilgrims and those with special needs.
Khairallah said the operational teams and organizational procedures in place at the airport are designed to streamline pilgrim movement and expedite the completion of travel formalities, reflecting the level of readiness and the commitment to providing a comfortable and safe environment from the moment pilgrims arrive until their departure.
The authority had met with the Ministry of Endowments earlier this week to review final preparations for Hajj flights operating through both Damascus and Aleppo international airports.
On April 30, director of the Hajj and Umrah Administration at the Ministry of Endowments, Mohammad Nour A’raj, said that all arrangements for this season’s pilgrims had been finalized, with flights operating through Damascus, Aleppo, Istanbul, Cairo, and Gaziantep.
