Damascus, Feb. 23 (SANA) Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed al-Saleh met on Monday with the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Damascus, Michalis Hadjikyrou, to discuss enhancing regional response mechanisms and proactive readiness for natural disasters and emergency situations.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, both sides emphasized the vital importance of cross-border humanitarian cooperation in protecting civilians and maintaining regional stability. The discussions focused on activating regional support frameworks and strengthening advanced readiness protocols to ensure swift action during crises.
The two parties reached an agreement to expand joint training programs and capacity-building initiatives. These efforts will include the transfer of technical expertise and specialized knowledge, aimed at bolstering the institutional readiness of the Ministry and raising the level of coordination and rapid response within the Eastern Mediterranean region.
This engagement follows the Ministry’s ongoing strategy to build strategic partnerships with neighboring states. Minister al-Saleh underscored that such technical cooperation is essential for modernizing the national emergency system and integrating global best practices into Syria’s disaster management framework.
