Damascus, Jan. 11 (SANA) Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh, met Sunday with the Turkish Ambassador in Damascus, Nuh Yilmaz, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in areas including forest fire management, earthquake monitoring, mine clearance and war remnants.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, focused on strengthening technical and operational coordination between Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and Syria’s Emergency Ministry in order to enhance disaster response capabilities and protect lives in both countries.
Meanwhile, the National Center for Mine Action within the Ministry of Emergency launched a four-day national workshop in Damascus today. The workshop raises awareness about the dangers of explosive ordnance and provides support to those affected, including families of victims and survivors. The workshop covers Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) and Victim Assistance, with participation from relevant ministries, international and local organizations, and technical experts in the field.
