Damascus, Feb. 16 (SANA) A roundtable meeting was held Monday in Damascus bringing together the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates , the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, representatives of diplomatic missions, and international donor bodies at the Cham Hotel.
The meeting aimed to exchange views and assessments on current humanitarian developments in Syria, align international support with actual needs, identify recovery-phase priorities, and mobilize resources to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of the humanitarian response.
Participants discussed operational and economic challenges facing humanitarian service providers, prospects for recovery, improving basic services, and the role of international partnerships in enabling and strengthening national response capacities.
The President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Organization Hazem Baqleh said the meeting covered recovery projects carried out in Syria in cooperation with national societies, as well as the organization’s geographic presence, number of volunteers, projects, and facilities, including support provided by the Syrian government.
President of the federation Kate Forbes said the meeting reviewed the organization’s work over recent years and the current recovery phase, noting the importance of diplomats’ feedback in shaping future efforts.
Forbes concluded a four-day visit to Syria that included field tours and meetings with officials and humanitarian partners.
