Daraa, Feb. 8 (SANA) Israeli forces carried out an incursion into the eastern outskirts of Maariya town in western Daraa early Sunday before withdrawing, according to local officials.
Maariya Mayor Mowaffaq Mahmoud told SANA that a unit of four military vehicles entered the town around 2 a.m., reaching its eastern neighborhoods. The forces searched one house before pulling back.
Mahmoud said the operation caused tension and concern among residents, but no injuries or arrests were reported.
Last month, Israeli forces carried out a similar incursion in the Saraya Jomleh area of western Daraa, setting up a temporary checkpoint and conducting searches before withdrawing.
Israel continues its violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, including incursions into southern Syrian territory and attacks on civilians.
Syria has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory, stressing that all measures taken in southern Syria are null and void and have no legal effect under international law. It has urged the international community to hold Israel accountable and ensure its complete withdrawal from the region.
