Damascus, Feb. 4 (SANA) Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani and Minister of Defense Maj. Gen. Murhaf Abu Qasra on Wednesday met a senior Russian delegation in Damascus to discuss issues of mutual interest, including the Russian military presence and prospects for defense cooperation.
The delegation included Russian Housing Minister Irek Faizullin, presidential adviser Igor Levitin and Deputy Defense Minister Gen. Yunus-bek Yevkurov.
The talks were held within the framework of ongoing coordination between the two sides and focused on cooperation that serves mutual interests, alongside ways to strengthen bilateral ties in economic and development fields.
President al-Sharaa made an official visit to Russia last month, where he met with the Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow and discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance strategic cooperation in various fields.
