Homs, July 17 (SANA) Syria’s Drug Enforcement Department said on Friday it had foiled an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of drugs out of the country, seizing 1.3 million Captagon pills during a security operation in Homs province.

The department said on its Telegram channel that the operation followed extensive surveillance and intelligence gathering.

Authorities arrested the suspect responsible for the shipment and found the pills concealed inside plastic buckets to evade detection.

The entire shipment was confiscated, while investigations are continuing to identify accomplices and others involved before the suspect is referred to the judiciary.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, dismantle smuggling networks and prosecute those involved.
