On first anniversary of Liberation Day ,Journalists’ Union launches annual award

On first anniversary of Liberation Day ,Journalists’ Union launches annual award

Damascus, Dec.13 (SANA) The Syrian Journalists’ Union announced the launch of the Annual Syrian Journalism Award, which will be the highest professional honor for creativity and excellence in national journalistic work, aiming to support and develop media that promotes the values of freedom and social responsibility.

In a statement to SANA, the Union said that the first edition of the award for this year, 2025, coincides with the first anniversary of Syria’s liberation, embodying the pivotal role of journalists and media professionals as partners in the journey of liberation and reconstruction. It honors press of liberation that documented achievements and revealed the truth, affirming that truth is the first fruit of freedom.

The statement noted that the award includes three categories; Best Photojournalism, Audiovisual Report, and Investigative Journalism. Interested applicants can review the Union’s website and official platforms. In a statement

to SANA, Mahmoud Abu Ras, Secretary of Professional Affairs and member of the Executive Office, explained that specialized judging committees will be formed for each category, consisting of experienced and competent professionals. He pointed out that the theme of this year’s award focuses on liberation and the fall of the former regime, noting that the annual launch of this award affirms the role of journalists and encourage them to be creative, adhere to professional ethics, and keep pace with media development.
