Interior Ministry Ensures Safe Trade Route for Food Supplies into Sweida

Damascus, SANA – The Ministry of Interior has reaffirmed its readiness to secure a safe and stable trade route for the entry of food supplies into Sweida Governorate.

Brigadier General Ahmad Al-Dalati, Commander of Internal Security in Sweida, announced on Friday via the Ministry’s page on Telegram that security forces are fully prepared to guarantee the continuous flow of essential goods. He noted that the ministry, in coordination with the Sweida Chamber of Commerce, has been closely following the approved mechanism for supply operations since August 7, 2025.

Al-Dalati emphasized that the ministry remains committed to fulfilling its duty of protecting citizens and ensuring their daily needs are met. Supply operations have continued regularly, with over 1,000 tons of foodstuffs and large quantities of fruits and vegetables delivered on August 17.

He further explained that although merchants in Sweida later excused themselves from continuing imports under the current arrangement, the ministry will maintain its efforts to secure and facilitate the steady provision of essential goods to the governorate.
