Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, during his meeting with Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, reaffirmed Egypt’s firm position on the need to preserve Syria’s unity and territorial integrity.
The Egyptian minister also reiterated his country’s firm rejection of repeated Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty, warning against the dangers of exploiting the current situation to justify foreign interventions.
He stressed that a political process involving all components of the Syrian people is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable stability.
Abdelatty noted that Syria’s recovery and its return to its natural role within the Arab and regional environment is a key objective that strengthens Arab national security, highlighting the importance of continuing efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.
The Egyptian minister also reiterated his country’s firm rejection of repeated Israeli violations of Syrian people, warning against the dangers of exploiting the current situation to justify foreign interventions.
He stressed that Egypt continues, through its regional and international commitments, to affirm the need to respect Syria’s unity and full sovereignty and to reject any attempts to undermine its security and stability.
