Abu Dhabi, Aug. 26 (SANA) Syrian national MMA team athlete Hamza al-Haj Ali won the bronze medal at the World Youth Mixed Martial Arts Championships, currently being held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Al-Haj Ali reached the semifinals after recording three consecutive victories.
He opened his campaign with a first-round victory over Finland’s Aaron Seutonen before defeating Montenegro national team fighter Djuro Bozinovic in the second round.
In the third round, al-Haj Ali defeated Ukraine’s Serhii Sobishanskyi to book his place in the semifinals.
He then faced Uzbekistan’s Shahriyor Rahmonov in the semifinal and lost his Uzbek opponent, finishing the competition in third place and securing the bronze medal.
The Abu Dhabi 2026 championships are the seventh edition of the World Youth Mixed Martial Arts Championships, organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).
