Vancouver, June 22 (SANA) Egypt produced a second-half comeback to defeat New Zealand 3–1 on Sunday in Vancouver, Canada, in their second Group G match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

New Zealand took an early lead in the 15th minute through Finn Surman after applying early attacking pressure. Egypt responded after the break, with Mostafa Ziko levelling the score in the 58th minute.

Mohamed Salah put Egypt ahead in the 67th minute before substitute Mahmoud Hassan known as Trézéguet sealed the win in the 82nd minute.

The result moves Egypt top of Group G with four points, two ahead of Iran and Belgium, who played out a goalless draw in the group’s earlier fixture. New Zealand remain bottom with one point.
