Ankara, May.12 (SANA) Ministry of Sports and Youth participated in the launch ceremony of the “Konya Youth Capital 2026” program, organized by Türkiye’s Ministry of Youth and Sports with broad participation from countries across the Islamic world.

The Syrian delegation included Fouad Sayed Issa, Adviser to the Minister for Youth Affairs, alongside Shakib al-Shamali, Director of International Cooperation, and youth sector representatives Omar Darbas and Mona Dahouk.

On the sidelines of Monday’s opening ceremony, the delegation held talks with President of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum Taha Ayhan, during which both sides discussed prospects for cooperation in a number of youth-oriented programs and initiatives.

The discussions also addressed a preliminary proposal for Damascus to be designated as Youth Capital next year.

Morocco’s city of Marrakesh had previously held the title of Youth Capital for 2025.
