Berlin, April 12 (SANA) Bayer Leverkusen secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the 29th round of the Bundesliga on Saturday, boosting Bayern Munich’s position at the top of the table.
Leverkusen’s win dealt a setback to Dortmund’s hopes of reclaiming the German league title, leaving them at least nine points behind leaders Bayern.
Bayern later thrashed St. Pauli 5-0, extending their lead over Dortmund to 12 points with five rounds remaining. Dortmund remain second in the table on 64 points.
Leverkusen climbed to fifth place on 52 points, strengthening their push for a European spot next season.
The result leaves Bayern firmly on course to secure the title in the coming weeks, having dropped points only once in their last 12 matches across all competitions and losing just once in the league this season.
