Monaco, Feb. 18 (SANA) Paris Saint-Germain beat Monaco 3–2 away on Wednesday in the first leg of their playoff for a place in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
PSG, the defending European champions, overcame a missed penalty that could have increased their lead but held on after a tense second half. Monaco’s hopes faded early in the second half when Aleksandr Golovin was sent off for a reckless challenge on Vitinha, leaving the hosts with ten men and allowing PSG to press higher and control possession.
Despite late pressure from Monaco, PSG maintained their advantage ahead of next Wednesday’s return leg at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
