Damascus, Sept. 8 (SANA) Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Qutaiba Kadish and Hans Das, Deputy Director-General of the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), discussed Tuesday in Damascus ways to strengthen coordination on humanitarian funding and projects.
The two sides stressed the government’s commitment to humanitarian action and to the principles of neutrality and impartiality, with assistance directed toward the most urgent needs.
Kadish stressed the importance of relying on accurate data when assessing humanitarian needs and boosting coordination among all stakeholders, including government bodies.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing humanitarian organizations with the necessary support, including licensing, project approvals and other required facilitation.
The two sides agreed on the need to better integrate humanitarian assistance with early recovery and development projects to achieve sustainable results, support the return of displaced people and refugees, and respond effectively to humanitarian needs.
