Washington, July 31 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that a new agreement had been reached to advance his plan for ending the war in Gaza, including the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory.
Agreement details
Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform that the Board of Peace had reached what he called a “historic agreement” requiring the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed factions in Gaza.
He said the deal represented a major step toward “lasting peace and security” and would allow the administration of Gaza to be transferred to a new Palestinian government working with the Board of Peace to support the Palestinian people.
The agreement would be implemented through a series of planned phases, Trump said, adding that Israeli forces would withdraw after the disarmament process was completed. He said an international stabilization force, working alongside a newly established Palestinian police force, would take responsibility for Gaza’s security and the safety of its residents and neighbouring areas.
Trump thanked the mediators — Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye — for their efforts in reaching the agreement.
Roadmap for Gaza’s future
The Board of Peace said in a statement that Hamas had agreed to a detailed roadmap for implementing the next phases of the Gaza ceasefire, with the United States and mediating countries Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye supporting the process.
The board said the agreement followed months of negotiations and was aimed at advancing a plan for new governance, security arrangements, humanitarian assistance, reconstruction and economic recovery in Gaza.
It described the roadmap as a breakthrough, saying it included a commitment from Hamas to give up its weapons, followed by an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
The board said the immediate focus would be on implementing the agreement, adding that the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza would begin a gradual transition toward full authority with support from an international stabilization force.
Withdrawal linked to disarmament
Nikolay Miladinov, executive director of the Board of Peace in Gaza, said the Israeli withdrawal must take place in full coordination with the disarmament process.
Trump announced his 20-point plan for ending the Gaza war in September 2025. In October, Israel and Hamas reached an agreement on the first phase of the plan, which included a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange.
The UN Security Council later adopted Resolution 2803 in November 2025, endorsing elements of the plan, including a permanent ceasefire, humanitarian aid delivery, reconstruction efforts and a pathway toward Palestinian self-determination.
In January 2026, Trump announced the creation of the Board of Peace for Gaza, following the launch of the second phase of the plan, which included efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and establish a transitional technocratic Palestinian administration for the territory.
