Kuwait City, July 10 (SANA) Kuwait on Friday welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that Washington has begun procedures to remove Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism.
In a statement posted on X, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the country’s support for efforts by the Syrian government aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for development and prosperity, while contributing to security and stability in the region.
The ministry said Kuwait supports initiatives that promote Syria’s recovery and help strengthen regional stability.
The announcement followed a meeting last Wednesday between President Ahmad al-Sharaa and President Trump on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, during which President al-Sharaa received a message from Trump stating that he had informed Congress of his decision to revoke Syria’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism.
Under U.S. law, Congress will conduct a 45-day review process before the decision becomes final.
