Istanbul, April 19 (SANA) A Syrian parliamentary delegation held talks with a delegation from the Jordanian House of Representatives on enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul.
According to a statement carried Sunday by the People’s Assembly channel, the meeting focused on exchanging expertise, particularly in the fields of governance, education and health, in a way that supports efforts to rebuild Syrian state institutions.
The two sides also stressed the importance of greater coordination on security and economic files, especially border control and facilitating trade movement, in a manner that serves common interests and contributes to regional stability.
The Syrian delegation welcomed Jordan’s supportive position toward Syria’s sovereignty and territorial unity, affirming that Syria’s stability represents a key pillar for the security and stability of the wider region.
The Syrian delegation is headed by Mohamad Saadi Sukarieh, who was elected in the recent People’s Assembly elections, and includes Yasser al-Shahada and Imad Barq, a member of the Higher Committee for People’s Assembly Elections.
The 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union opened in Istanbul last Wednesday under the slogan “Harnessing hope, advancing peace, and ensuring justice for future generations,” with Syria participating after years of absence.
