Ankara, March 22 (SANA) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Türkiye is pursuing diplomatic efforts and regional initiatives to help end the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
Fidan said recent discussions, including a ministerial meeting in Riyadh, focused on ways to de-escalate tensions and reach a ceasefire as soon as possible.
The Turkish minister warned that Israel is seeking to prolong the war to inflict maximum damage on Iran, showing little willingness for peace and signaling it would continue until specific military and industrial goals are achieved.
He said Israel was seeking to influence Washington to block a ceasefire, while Gulf countries expect the conflict to continue for several more weeks. He added that Türkiye maintains a consistent stance and stressed the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz to the global economy.
Fidan added that Gulf states reaffirmed during the Riyadh meeting that they are not parties to the conflict and would not allow attacks on Iran through their airspace.
He said that recent attacks on infrastructure in the region had prompted what he described as “final warnings.” He said a post-conflict phase could include developments in defense industries and conditional economic cooperation.
Saudi Arabia hosted the ministerial consultative meeting last Wednesday, with foreign ministers from Jordan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Bahrain, Türkiye, Syria, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
Participants called on Iran to halt its attacks, respect international law and pursue diplomacy to ensure regional stability.
Since Feb. 28, Gulf countries and other regional states have reported missile and drone attacks that officials say were launched from Iran, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure.
