Cairo, Jan. 24 (SANA) The Arab Parliament on Saturday reaffirmed its support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling for national dialogue within state institutions as the basis for a lasting solution in the country.
Speaking during a parliamentary session in Cairo, Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi condemned repeated Israeli air strikes on Syrian territory, describing them as violations of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Turning to the Palestinian issue, Al-Yamahi said it remains a top priority for the Arab Parliament. He welcomed the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee to administer the Gaza Strip, calling it an important step toward easing the humanitarian crisis and improving governance. He rejected any political process that does not lead to a ceasefire and a full Israeli withdrawal from occupied Palestinian territories.
On Sudan, Al-Yamahi warned that continued escalation threatens not only the country’s unity and stability but also security in the Red Sea region and the Horn of Africa. He urged the launch of an inclusive political process in line with the Jeddah Declaration of May 2023 to preserve state institutions and territorial integrity.
Al-Yamahi also criticized Israel’s recognition of the self-declared “Somaliland,” calling it a violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.
