Gold hits one-week low as markets await U.S. inflation data

London, Sept. 11 (SANA) Gold prices fell to a one-week low on Friday as investors reassessed the outlook for U.S. interest rates ahead of key inflation data due later in the day.

Spot gold was little changed at $4,318.88 an ounce after earlier touching its lowest level since Sept. 2, Reuters reported.

U.S. gold futures for December delivery fell 1.1% to $4,359.50 an ounce.

The decline followed a nearly 2% drop in gold prices on Thursday after data showed U.S. producer prices had risen, adding to uncertainty over the outlook for interest rates.

Investors are now awaiting U.S. consumer price index data for further signals on inflation and the path of monetary policy.

Elsewhere in precious metals, spot silver slipped 0.1% to $63.48 an ounce, platinum was steady at $1,777.42, while palladium fell 0.2% to $1,279.25.
