Ankara, Jan.24 (SANA)– Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan has affirmed that recent developments in Syria reveal an unprecedented international and regional consensus to take concrete steps toward improvement, expressing optimism about the country’s future.
Speaking to British Sky News channel on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos in Switzerland, Fidan said : “ What is happening in Syria shows, for the first time, that regional countries, the United States and the international community have come together with unprecedented speed around an issue in the Middle East and have begun taking concrete steps,”.
“The success of this model and its application to other issues could yield rapid gains for regional and international security and stability”, Anadolu Agency quoted the Turkish official as saying.
He pointed out that the region is undergoing profound transformations and will not return to its previous state, saying that current efforts are focused on steering the region toward a better future, and that his country seeks to play a constructive role in this process.
Fidan has said in a previous statement that preserving Syria’s unity and territorial integrity is essential for regional security and stability.
