Olabi: For the first time, Security Council is united in support of Syria

Damascus,Dec.4 (SANA)  Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Olabi, described the Security Council delegation’s visit on Thursday to Damascus as a historic moment, marking the Council’s first unified stance in support of Syria.

In a statement to SANA, Olabi said that the timing of the visit reflects the Security Council’s recognition of the significant achievements made during the first year of liberation and its appreciation for the efforts that freed Syria from the danger and evil it faced under the deposed regime.

He added that during the visit, members of the delegation listened to President Ahmad Al‑Sharaa’s vision for the country’s future, the dangerous Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, and the impact of sanctions on the Syrian people.

Olabi emphasized that the shift from international division to consensus about Syria represents a major turning point, noting that continued unity could help stabilize Syria and restore its role in supporting global peace and security.

The visit, led by the Council’s president, Samuel Žbogar, aimed to rebuild the Syrian people’s trust after years of internal Council disagreements.
