Syrian Information Minister: A new phase of stability and openness after Liberation

Damascus, Dec.7 (SANA) Syria is entering a new phase focused on reconstruction, development, and strengthening state institutions, Information Minister Hamza Al-Moustafa said, noting that the country is now free of detainees held for their opinions and that the media sector is expanding.

In remarks to Anadolu Agency, Al-Moustafa said Syria is restoring its internal capabilities and does not pose a threat to any party. He accused Israel of pursuing an escalatory policy since October 2023 and attempting to drag the region into open confrontations. He reaffirmed Damascus’ demand for Israel to withdraw from areas it occupied after December 8, 2024, adding that Washington has increasingly recognized Syria’s position and is pressuring the Israeli government.

On the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Al-Moustafa stressed that the March 10 Agreement remains the only framework for a settlement, rejecting proposals for federalism or political decentralization, and accused the SDF of failing to meet its commitments.

He highlighted that more than 500 media outlets now operate in Syria and thousands of foreign delegations have visited since early 2025. The ministry has shifted from oversight to content production, with ongoing development of the SANA news agency, the relaunch of Al-Thawra newspaper, and the revival of Damascus Radio.
