Saudi Arabia welcomes Syria’s recognition of the Republic of Kosovo

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed Syria’s recognition of the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state during a trilateral meeting in Riyadh with officials from Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Kosovo.

In a statement published Wednesday on the X platform, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed this recognition, noting that it “looks forward to this step contributing to strengthening and enhancing bilateral cooperation and prosperity between the two countries and their peoples.”

The ministry affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation to promote peace and prosperity worldwide.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced late Wednesday that the Syrian Arab Republic had officially recognized the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani described the recognition as a “historic event” and thanked President Ahmad al-Sharaa for this initiative.
