Ankara, Aug. 3 (SANA) Türkiye said on Monday that continued Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip show Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is not committed to lasting peace and is undermining diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region.
In a statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the killing of more than 30 civilians and strikes on healthcare facilities in Gaza, following agreement on a roadmap to accelerate implementation of the Gaza peace plan, showed that the Israeli government lacked a genuine commitment to peace with the Palestinian people.
The ministry stressed that Netanyahu’s government is seeking to displace Palestinians from their homeland while obstructing initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace and regional stability. It also said Israeli actions were undermining mediation efforts, particularly those led by the United States.
Türkiye called on the international community to adopt a firmer stance toward Israeli policies and urged countries supporting peace and regional stability to act in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Israeli ceasefire violations since a ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10 have killed 1,230 Palestinians and injured 4,076 others, in addition to arrests, military incursions and destruction across the Gaza Strip.
