Brussels, May 4 (SANA) The European Union announced on Monday its firm rejection of the Israeli occupation’s continued annexation of Palestinian land in the Gaza Strip, specifically condemning the creation of a new demarcation known as the “Orange Line.”
Anouar El Anouni, EU Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs, stated in comments reported by Anadolu Agency that the Union emphasizes the necessity of reuniting the Gaza Strip and the West Bank under the administration of the Palestinian Authority.
The spokesperson urged the Israeli authorities to allow the immediate and large-scale entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged strip without obstacles, ensuring its sustainable distribution to the civilian population. El Anouni reiterated the EU’s call for the urgent implementation of a peace plan in Gaza, expressing deep concern over the catastrophic humanitarian situation.
The so-called “Orange Line” follows the earlier implementation of the “Yellow Line,” a mechanism used by the Israeli occupation military to enforce the forced displacement of Palestinian residents into restricted zones. These measures have already allowed the occupation to seize control of approximately 53% of the Gaza Strip’s total area. The newly introduced “Orange Line” represents a further expansion of this land seizure, eroding more Palestinian territory.
The EU’s stance comes amid mounting international pressure on the Israeli occupation to halt its expansionist policies and adhere to international humanitarian law regarding the protection of civilians and the integrity of occupied territories.
