UAE, Saudi Arabia condemn Iranian attacks on Jordan, Kuwait and Egypt

Abu Dhabi/Riyadh, July 31 (SANA) The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia on Thursday condemned renewed Iranian attacks against Jordan and Kuwait, as well as a drone strike targeting Egypt’s Damietta port, expressing solidarity with the affected countries and calling for an immediate halt to attacks in the region.

UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed his country’s support for Jordan and Egypt in safeguarding their security and stability, condemning renewed attacks against Jordan and a drone strike targeting Egypt’s Damietta port.

According to the UAE Foreign Ministry, Abdullah discussed regional developments and efforts to strengthen security and stability in the Middle East during separate phone calls with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

Jordan’s armed forces said earlier on Thursday that they had intercepted five missiles targeting Jordan, while maritime security firm Ambrey reported that a drone had struck a U.S.-owned liquefied natural gas carrier at Egypt’s Damietta port on Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia also condemned renewed Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Jordan, urging an immediate end to attacks against countries in the region.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said Riyadh stood in full solidarity with Kuwait and Jordan and supported measures taken by both countries in response to attacks it said violated international law and the principles of good-neighbourly relations.

The ministry offered condolences to Kuwait’s government and people and to the family of a person killed in an attack on a Chinese company in northern Kuwait, while rejecting attacks on critical infrastructure and civilian areas.

The Saudi statement followed Kuwait’s announcement that a building belonging to a Chinese company in northern Kuwait had been targeted, and Jordan’s announcement that it had foiled an attempt to strike its territory with five missiles.
