Manama/Kuwait City, June 28 (SANA) An Iranian attack damaged a residential building in Bahrain’s Muharraq Governorate early Sunday, while Kuwait said its air defense systems intercepted Iranian missiles and drones that entered the country’s airspace amid escalating tensions in the Gulf.
Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said the attack caused material damage to the residential building, with no casualties reported. It added that the relevant authorities had begun procedures at the scene.
Earlier, the ministry activated air raid sirens across several parts of the kingdom and urged citizens and residents to remain calm, proceed to the nearest safe location and follow official news channels. It did not specify the nature of the threat.
Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry condemned the renewed Iranian attack involving ballistic missiles and drones, saying it represented a serious escalation and a systematic violation of the kingdom’s sovereignty and the security of its citizens and residents.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s General Staff said in a statement posted on the X platform that the explosions heard across parts of the country resulted from air defense systems intercepting and destroying hostile aerial targets. It urged the public to follow safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities and rely on official sources for information.
The developments came after U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday that it had carried out additional airstrikes targeting several sites in Iran in response to what it described as a ceasefire violation and continued attacks on commercial shipping.
On Saturday, Bahrain said several Iranian drones had targeted its territory, prompting condemnations from a number of Arab countries, which said the attacks violated international law and undermined efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.
