Damascus, Dec. 5 (SANA) Syrian Defense Minister, General Murhaf Abu Qasra, inaugurated the Military Exhibition on Friday, dedicated to the Syrian Revolution. The exhibition, which showcases military equipment and vehicles used during the revolution, was opened at the Damascus fairgrounds, marking a pivotal moment in Syria’s modern history.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent military figures, several government ministers, ambassadors, diplomats, and military attachés stationed in Syria. The event is seen as a commemoration of the struggle and resilience of the Syrian people in the face of overwhelming adversity.
A Historic Moment for Syria
In his opening speech, Minister Abu Qasra emphasized that Syria stands today on the threshold of a historical moment that encapsulates the spirit of a people who refused to break. He praised the sacrifices made by Syrians, who have endured immense hardships in their fight against tyranny and injustice, ultimately writing a great victory with their blood and tears.
“This past year marked the heroic battle that repelled foreign aggression. The unity of the Syrian people and their fighters from all corners of Syria—Idlib, Aleppo, Hama, Homs, and even the heart of Damascus—witnessed the collapse of enemy forces as they fled, leaving behind their weapons and equipment under the strikes of the revolutionaries,” Minister Abu Qasra stated.
He continued, “We entered Damascus as victors, unified as one army, and we have proven to the world that the people who fight for their freedom cannot be defeated. Dignity is not bought or sold; it is seized by fire and steel.”
Birth of a New Army
Minister Abu Qasra also underscored that the military exhibition was not just about showcasing weapons and military technology. It serves as a living testament to the birth of a new army, one that emerged from the crucible of revolution. From the first workshops under siege to the professional command centers, the Syrian military has evolved, adapting to the circumstances of war while maintaining a commitment to its people.
“This military exhibition symbolizes the birth of a new army that rose from the revolution. From makeshift workshops during the siege to the advanced operations centers, the army has developed despite all constraints, and we look forward to continuing the strategic plan to build an army that every Syrian can be proud of, an army that will protect their dignity and safeguard their children,” he added.
A Message of Hope
Minister Abu Qasra delivered a heartfelt message to the Syrian Arab Army, urging them to remain united, disciplined, and loyal to the principles of the revolution. “You are the shield of the nation, the fortress that stands strong. You are the guardians of our unity, and with you, this country will remain resilient in the face of any challenges,” he stated.
He also addressed the Syrian people, saying, “Raise your heads high, for the era of oppression is over, and a new state of freedom has been born.”
Continuing Development of Syrian Military Industry
After touring the various sections of the exhibition, Minister Abu Qasra spoke to the media, reiterating that the Syrian people, despite the odds, have demonstrated their ability to build military industries with their own hands and self-reliant capabilities.
“The message of this exhibition is that the Syrian people are capable of building military industries independently. We will continue to develop military industries and technological advancements to improve the Syrian Arab Army’s capabilities. The weaponry displayed here is a product of the sweat and determination of the Syrian Revolution,” Minister Abu Qasra declared.
He concluded, “The next generation of Syria’s military will follow this same path, strengthening the defense of Syria and ensuring the protection of its people.”
A Tribute to Martyrs and a Vision for the Future
Minister Abu Qasra also emphasized that the exhibition serves as a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for Syria’s freedom and dignity. “This exhibition is a message of love and loyalty from President Ahmad al-Sharaa and the Ministry of Defense to those who gave their lives for the Syrian people’s freedom,” he stated, underscoring the deep respect for the martyrs of the revolution.
