Homs, March 9 (SANA) A convoy of crude oil tankers from the Rmeilan oil fields in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah province arrived Sunday at storage facilities in Homs, officials said, as the government seeks to strengthen supplies to the country’s refineries.
Ali Qornful, director of the central region department for crude oil transport, told SANA that the shipment included 92 tankers, the second batch delivered from the Rmeilan fields.
The first convoy, consisting of 72 tankers, arrived on Friday, Qornful said, adding that a third batch is expected to arrive in the coming hours.
He said the Syrian Petroleum Company and the state crude oil transport company had mobilized personnel and technical resources to move crude from oil fields in northeastern Syria to storage facilities in Homs around the clock.
The company plans to continue transporting oil in successive shipments to help keep refineries operating and ensure supplies of petroleum products for the domestic market, he added.
The deliveries are part of broader government efforts to restore the transport of crude oil from Syrian fields to storage centers and refineries as the country works to stabilize its energy sector.
